Advanced countries usually have access to latest technology and arms available for law enforcement. They are usually quoted in high esteem in underdeveloped and developing nations. Unfortunately, at home prime minister Justin Trudeau and premier Ontario ford even though not directly but with comments look to be pointing fingers at law enforcement quoting on assassins of Nijjar the Sikh killed in Vancouver BC and recent comments by ford that immigrants to blame for “ Jews school shooting “ . Does it indicate law enforcement is either not trained or armed to deal with rouge immigrants.
Usually, all immigrants go through a rigorous background check up and inspite of this check incidents take place. Is it time to review policies and procedures of immigration. We did some study on qualifications vis a vis , education of Canadian Police vis a vis Indian police and here are the differences.
One major difference we figured was in canada a grade 12 and recruited as a constable can rise up to a police chief which is not possible in india. There are three levels of police officers in india lowest qualified as grade 12 who usually will reach level of an inspector until retirement. The highest level being the IPS ( Indian Police Service ) who are academically minimum graduates and later through competitive exams and interviews are inducted into police as “ DSP” Deputy Superintendent Police. Only few with distinguished and exemplary service reach the position of Police Chief / Police Commissioner until retirement.
Crime rate in many cities are fast rising and had a personal experience before about a month when a male and female rang my door bell and started howling that her daughters iPod lost in school and showed our house location. Police was called as I have no school going children. The police never turned up inspite of the two creating ruckus for an hour.
Lately, it’s all in news that Canada ranks number one globally in theft of cars. Insurance companies have increased insurance on cars that are more likely to be stolen.
With immigrants being the need of Country it’s high time we invest in intelligence and policing.
