Exit polls predict a landslide victory for BJP-led NDA with over 350 seats, setting the stage for Modi’s third term.

In the wake of a marathon Lok Sabha election that spanned six weeks, twelve exit polls have projected a decisive victory for the ruling BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). The polls, released after 6:30 PM on Sunday, forecast a win of over 350 seats for the NDA, with some estimates going as high as 400 seats.

According to India Today-Axis My India, the NDA is expected to secure between 361-401 seats. News 24-Today’s Chanakya predicts an even more robust performance, estimating 400 seats for the alliance. Other prominent exit polls like ABP News-C Voter (353-383), Republic Bharat-P Marq (359), and India News-D-Dynamics (371) also suggest a strong showing for the NDA.

The exit polls indicate significant gains for the BJP in several key states. In Karnataka and Maharashtra, the NDA is projected to dominate, while in Kerala, the Left-led alliance faces a predicted rout. In West Bengal, the BJP is anticipated to improve its performance from the last elections, potentially becoming the single-largest party in terms of Lok Sabha seats.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 73, and his party are widely expected to secure a third consecutive term. The Congress, despite facing setbacks from electoral losses and defections, remains part of the Opposition bloc INDIA, which is contesting against the BJP.

In the 2019 general elections, the BJP won 303 seats, with the NDA’s total reaching 352. The Congress managed to secure only 52 seats, contributing to the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) total of 91 seats. This time around, the BJP has set an ambitious target of 370 seats and, with support from its allies, aims to surpass the 400-seat mark. The Lower House of Parliament comprises 543 seats, with 272 required for a majority.

While exit polls can provide a glimpse into potential outcomes, they are not always accurate. Historical data show variations between exit poll predictions and actual results, which will be confirmed when the election results are announced on Tuesday.

The exit polls’ projections have sparked significant discussions and analyses across media platforms, with the BJP’s potential third term being a major talking point. As the nation awaits the final results, the political landscape is poised for potential shifts based on the electorate’s final verdict.

With the counting of votes and the announcement of results just days away, all eyes remain on the impending political developments and the future direction of India’s governance under potentially continued BJP-led leadership.
