WestJet stated it started canceling and consolidating flights to park aircraft safely and in an organized manner.Approximately 670 WestJet mechanics, represented by the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association, are poised to strike after issuing a strike notice earlier this week. The union members had overwhelmingly rejected a tentative agreement last week. The airline has requested intervention from the Canadian Industrial Relations Board. If accepted, this would refer the dispute to arbitration, preventing labor action from both sides. However, the union opposes this move.
