Hezbollah Members Injured in Pager Explosions Amid Escalating Conflict with Israel
In a significant development amidst the ongoing conflict between Hezbollah and Israel, more than 1,000 Hezbollah members, including fighters and medics, have sustained serious injuries due to a series of explosions caused by communication pagers. Described by a Hezbollah official as the “biggest security breach” in the past year, the incident has caused widespread panic in Lebanon.
The explosions occurred during intensified hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, following the Gaza war that erupted in October 2023. Ambulances were seen rushing through the streets of southern Beirut, where residents reported multiple blasts. The explosions continued even 30 minutes after the initial detonations, further increasing the chaos.
The health ministry’s crisis operations center has called for all medical workers to return to hospitals to handle the influx of wounded individuals. The ministry has also advised healthcare workers to avoid using pagers, given the security threat posed by these devices.
Hezbollah has been engaged in continuous cross-border warfare with Israel since the Hamas-led attacks in October, and this latest incident marks a severe escalation in the violence.
