Lebanon Reports Israeli Airstrikes Resulting in 182 Deaths
In a significant escalation, Israeli airstrikes have targeted multiple Hezbollah positions across Lebanon, resulting in the deaths of 182 individuals, as reported by Lebanese authorities. The strikes mark the most extensive military operation against Hezbollah in nearly a year.
The airstrikes primarily focused on southern Lebanon, the eastern Bekaa Valley, and northern regions near the Syrian border. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated that the operations will continue until the safety of Israeli civilians is ensured. The attacks have also caused 727 injuries, including among women, children, and medical personnel.
In retaliation, Hezbollah launched rockets toward Israeli military posts, heightening fears of a broader conflict. This follows an attack last Friday that killed 45, including high-ranking Hezbollah members. Thousands of Lebanese residents have been warned to evacuate through automated calls, intensifying the sense of unrest in the region. Concerns of a larger-scale war are mounting as both sides brace for potential further escalations.
Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, the Israeli military spokesperson, reiterated that airstrikes would continue to target Hezbollah’s military infrastructure, emphasizing the group’s danger to civilians.
