Three Adani Group Companies Join World Economic Forum Initiative on Decarbonisation

Mundra, Gujarat — Three companies from the Adani portfolio—Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ), and Ambuja Cements Ltd—have joined the World Economic Forum’s ‘Transitioning Industrial Clusters’ initiative. Together, they will form the ‘Adani Mundra Cluster,’ which aims to become one of the world’s largest green hydrogen hubs.

The Adani Mundra Cluster is projected to have a green hydrogen production capacity of 1 Million Metric Tonnes Per Annum (MMTPA) by 2030, with a future goal of 3 MMTPA by 2040. The cluster also plans to produce green hydrogen derivatives like ammonia, advancing its role in the energy transition.

Karan Adani, Managing Director of APSEZ and Director of Ambuja Cements, highlighted the importance of this initiative for decarbonising India’s hard-to-abate industrial sectors and reducing the country’s dependency on energy imports. He emphasized that joining the initiative allows the companies to collaborate with global industry experts, policymakers, and think tanks to pioneer innovative decarbonization strategies.

The World Economic Forum initiative mobilizes industrial clusters by providing a structured framework for policy, technology, partnerships, and financing to support energy transition and job creation. The Adani Group’s participation makes the Mundra Cluster one of the first two industrial clusters in India to join this global effort.

Mundra Port will feature state-of-the-art solar module and wind turbine manufacturing facilities, with APSEZ aiming to power all port operations with renewable energy by 2025 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2040. The upcoming Ambuja cement unit in Mundra is also poised to become the lowest-emission cement production facility globally, aligning with its goal of net-zero emissions by 2050.

This initiative is set to make the Adani Mundra Cluster a leader in South Asia’s green hydrogen transition, further driving India’s renewable energy agenda.
