Bomb Threats Cause Chaos for Indian Airlines, Several Flights Diverted and Delayed
At least seven Indian flights faced bomb threats on Tuesday, causing widespread disruptions, diversions, and delays across the country. Airlines including Air India, IndiGo, Akasa Air, SpiceJet, and Alliance Air were affected, with bomb threats received via social media platforms.
One of the major incidents involved Air India’s Delhi-Chicago flight (AI127), which made an emergency landing at Iqaluit Airport in Canada as a precautionary measure after a bomb threat was posted online. Similar threats were reported for IndiGo’s Dammam-Lucknow flight, Air India Express’s Jaipur-Ayodhya-Bengaluru flight, and SpiceJet’s Darbhanga-Mumbai flight, among others.
Security agencies carried out thorough checks and passenger screenings in all cases, with most threats eventually being declared hoaxes. Despite the false alarms, passengers faced long delays, and flight schedules were disrupted.
This series of bomb threats comes just a day after hoaxes targeted three international flights from Mumbai, raising concerns about the increasing number of security threats to Indian airlines. Authorities are continuing to investigate the sources of these threats.
