Canadian Sikh Leader Jagmeet Singh Calls for Ban on RSS, Actions Against Indian Diplomats

Canadian Sikh leader and New Democratic Party (NDP) head, Jagmeet Singh, has called for a ban on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and sanctions against Indian diplomats in Canada. His demand follows allegations by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) that some Indian diplomats were involved in the killing of a Sikh separatist.

During a press conference on October 15, 2024, Singh voiced his concerns and reiterated his support for holding Indian officials accountable. He has been a vocal critic of India’s approach toward the Sikh community, while India continues to deny the allegations, accusing Canada of promoting separatist activities.

The diplomatic tensions between Canada and India have escalated with these new developments.
