Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Warns Remaining Indian Diplomats Are ‘On Notice’

Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly has issued a stern warning to the remaining Indian diplomats in Canada, stating they are “on notice.” This follows heightened tensions between Canada and India after allegations of transnational repression by Indian authorities were brought forward.

Joly emphasized that the level of transnational repression alleged by Canadian police is unprecedented in the country’s history. The diplomatic dispute escalated after Canada accused India of involvement in the assassination of a Sikh activist on Canadian soil, a charge that India has strongly denied.

Joly’s statement signals that Canada is closely monitoring the actions of Indian diplomats amidst the ongoing tensions.
