The recent grenade attack in Srinagar’s Sunday market, injuring 11 people, has led Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to direct security forces to deliver a strong response. Sinha emphasized the need for forceful measures to eliminate terror outfits, granting full freedom to the security agencies to act decisively. This directive follows an earlier appeal by J&K CM Omar Abdullah, who urged security forces to prevent further attacks and ensure civilian safety amid a surge in violence in the region.
In a separate incident, security forces successfully neutralized Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Usman after a day-long encounter in Srinagar. Interestingly, the operation involved pacifying stray dogs with biscuits to maintain stealth during the approach, preventing their barking from alerting the target. Usman was heavily armed and engaged in intense gunfire, resulting in injuries to four security personnel, though they are reported to be in stable condition.
These incidents highlight the ongoing challenges in maintaining security in Jammu and Kashmir, as both security forces and local leaders call for intensified measures to combat terrorism and protect civilians.
