Violence Erupts at Brampton Hindu Temple During Protest by Khalistani Extremists

A peaceful gathering at the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton turned violent on Sunday when a protest by Khalistani extremists escalated into physical attacks on temple attendees. The incident has drawn widespread condemnation from political leaders, including Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

In a statement, Prime Minister Trudeau expressed his strong disapproval of the violence, stating, “The acts of violence at the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton today are unacceptable. Every Canadian has the right to practice their faith freely and safely.” He also thanked the Peel Regional Police for their quick response in protecting the community and investigating the attack.

Though no arrests have been made, Peel Police ensured a visible presence outside the temple following the incident to maintain security.

Canadian Member of Parliament Chandra Arya voiced his outrage on social media, calling the attack a significant escalation by Khalistani extremists. He warned of the increasing influence of these elements in Canadian politics and law enforcement, urging Hindu-Canadians to stand up for their rights and demand stronger protection from political leaders.

Similarly, Toronto MP Kevin Vuong condemned the violence, pointing to Canada’s growing reputation as a safe haven for radicals. “Our leaders are failing to safeguard Hindus, just as they have failed Christians and Jewish Canadians from violence,” Vuong stated, calling for greater action to protect religious communities.

The Hindu Canadian Foundation, a non-profit organization, shared videos of the attack, showing women and children being assaulted during the temple gathering. The foundation called for swift justice, highlighting that this was not an isolated incident but part of a disturbing trend of rising extremism targeting Hindu temples in Canada.

The attack comes amid ongoing tensions between India and Canada, following accusations last year from Prime Minister Trudeau linking Indian agents to the killing of a Khalistani separatist leader. India has denied the allegations, accusing Canada of allowing extremist elements to operate freely within its borders.

As the investigation continues, the Indian-Canadian community and other religious minorities are calling for stronger measures to ensure their safety in Canada.
