Three MoUs Signed, 20 Tonnes of Flood Relief Supplies Announced
In a significant milestone underscoring the deepening ties between India and Nigeria, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with Nigeria’s second-highest national honor during a ceremony in Abuja. This recognition reflects the robust partnership and mutual respect shared by the two nations.
Addressing the event, PM Modi emphasized India’s commitment to strengthening its strategic relationship with Nigeria, the largest economy in Africa. “We give high priority to our strategic ties with Nigeria, which have grown stronger over the years through mutual cooperation and shared goals,” he remarked.
The ceremony also witnessed the signing of three Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at boosting bilateral collaboration in critical sectors, including trade, defense, and renewable energy. These agreements are expected to pave the way for enhanced economic growth and cooperation between the two nations.
In a gesture of solidarity, PM Modi announced that India would send 20 tonnes of relief supplies to Nigeria to support flood-affected communities. The relief package includes essential items such as food, medicine, and emergency supplies, demonstrating India’s commitment to humanitarian assistance.
Nigeria’s leadership praised the evolving partnership, highlighting India’s contributions to various sectors, including technology, education, and healthcare, within the country. India and Nigeria have maintained close diplomatic and economic ties since establishing formal relations in 1962, with trade between the two nations crossing $15 billion annually.
The conferral of this prestigious award on PM Modi is seen as a testament to India’s growing influence and goodwill on the global stage. It further cements the foundation for a future of shared progress and collaboration between India and Nigeria.
