BPSC Paper Leak: Supreme Court Declines Plea for Exam Cancellation, Directs Petitioner to Patna High Court
The Supreme Court has declined to hear a plea seeking the cancellation of the Bihar Public Service Commission’s (BPSC) 70th Combined Competitive Exams (preliminary) following allegations of a paper leak. In its decision, the apex court stated that it would be “appropriate and more expeditious” for the petitioner to approach the Patna High Court for redressal.
The controversy arose after reports surfaced of the examination paper being leaked, leading to widespread protests and demands for the exam’s cancellation. The plea, filed in the Supreme Court, argued that the alleged leak compromised the integrity of the examination process, affecting the future of thousands of candidates.
The bench, however, refrained from interfering, suggesting that the Patna High Court was better suited to address the matter as it has jurisdiction over the issue. “The petitioner is granted liberty to approach the High Court of Patna for appropriate reliefs,” the court stated in its order.
The paper leak has sparked outrage across Bihar, with students and activists demanding accountability and stricter measures to prevent such incidents in the future. The BPSC, in response, has assured a thorough investigation and necessary action against those found guilty.
The matter is now expected to be taken up by the Patna High Court, where the focus will be on determining the validity of the claims and ensuring fairness in the competitive examination process.
