PM Modi to Inaugurate Crucial Z-Morh Tunnel Connecting Kashmir and Ladakh
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the much-awaited Z-Morh Tunnel on Monday, a vital infrastructure project that provides an all-weather connection to Sonamarg and establishes seamless connectivity between Kashmir and Ladakh.
The Z-Morh Tunnel, named after the Z-shaped road stretch that previously existed at the construction site, is expected to be a game-changer for the region. Spanning 6.5 kilometers, the tunnel ensures round-the-year access to Sonamarg, a popular tourist destination that was earlier cut off during harsh winters due to heavy snowfall.
This state-of-the-art project is equipped with modern safety features, including fire safety systems, CCTV surveillance, and ventilation facilities, making it one of the most advanced tunnels in India.
The inauguration of the Z-Morh Tunnel marks a significant step in enhancing connectivity and boosting economic activity in the strategically important region. Officials have lauded the project as a major milestone in improving access for locals, tourists, and the armed forces, which rely on uninterrupted movement in this sensitive border area.
With the tunnel set to be operational, the people of Kashmir and Ladakh look forward to a new era of connectivity and development.
