New Delhi/Dhaka – Diplomatic discussions are in progress for a potential meeting between India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Bangladesh’s Foreign Affairs Advisor, as both nations navigate evolving political developments.

If the meeting takes place, it will mark the second interaction between Jaishankar and the Bangladeshi official since August 5, when the Sheikh Hasina-led government collapsed. The discussions are expected to focus on regional stability, bilateral cooperation, and the future of India-Bangladesh relations in the wake of the political shift in Dhaka.

Sources indicate that the agenda may include trade ties, security collaboration, and India’s role in supporting Bangladesh’s transition following the political changes. However, neither side has officially confirmed the date or venue for the talks.

The collapse of Sheikh Hasina’s government marked a significant shift in Bangladesh’s political landscape, raising concerns about the future of bilateral agreements and regional partnerships. India has historically shared close ties with Hasina’s administration, and New Delhi is closely monitoring the unfolding situation.

Officials from both countries are expected to provide further updates as diplomatic efforts continue.
