Viral Video Shows Passengers in Bihar Claiming ‘Modi-ji’ Allowed Travel Without Tickets
Patna/Buxar – With the Maha Kumbh Mela drawing lakhs of pilgrims, trains to and from Bihar are witnessing severe overcrowding, with many passengers reportedly traveling without tickets. A viral video on social media shows a railway official questioning travelers in Buxar about who permitted them to board without a ticket, to which they respond, “Modi-ji.”
The video has sparked discussions online, highlighting the immense pressure on railway services during the religious gathering. Reports indicate that several stations, including Patna, Buxar, and Mughalsarai, are experiencing chaotic scenes, with passengers climbing onto rooftops of trains and squeezing into already packed compartments.
Railway officials have acknowledged the surge in travelers but are struggling to enforce ticketing rules due to the sheer volume of people. Authorities have deployed additional RPF personnel at key stations to manage the crowd, but the situation remains challenging.
The Indian Railways had previously announced special trains for the Maha Kumbh, but the demand has far exceeded capacity. Pilgrims, many of whom are from rural Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, say they have no choice but to board overcrowded trains to reach Prayagraj for the holy event.
With the Kumbh Mela expected to attract millions of devotees, railway authorities are under pressure to ensure safe and orderly travel. Meanwhile, the viral video has fueled political debates, with critics questioning the government’s handling of passenger management during such massive gatherings.
