Moscow: Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has praised former U.S. President Donald Trump for showing “restraint” in dealing with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, calling the Ukrainian leader a “scumbag.”
Medvedev, who now serves as deputy head of Russia’s Security Council, made the remarks on his Telegram channel, where he launched a fresh attack on Zelenskyy. He described the Ukrainian president as an “insolent pig” who had received “a proper slap down in the Oval Office.”
The comments come amid ongoing tensions between Russia and Ukraine, with Medvedev frequently using harsh rhetoric against Kyiv’s leadership. His latest remarks refer to past meetings between Trump and Zelenskyy, during which Trump maintained a measured approach despite his administration’s complex relationship with Ukraine.
Medvedev’s statement underscores Russia’s hostility toward Zelenskyy and its preference for Trump’s leadership style compared to the current U.S. administration under President Joe Biden, which has been a strong supporter of Ukraine.
The remarks have sparked fresh controversy, highlighting the geopolitical divide between Russia, Ukraine, and the U.S. amid the ongoing war and diplomatic conflicts.
