New Passport Rules NotifiedNew Passport Rules Notified

New Delhi – The government has introduced new passport rules, bringing significant changes in the proof of birth requirements and passport colour categories. The revised guidelines aim to streamline the application process and enhance security features.

Under the new rules, applicants will have more options for birth proof. Previously, a birth certificate was mandatory for those born after January 26, 1989. Now, documents like Aadhaar, PAN card, and school leaving certificates will also be accepted as proof of birth, making the process more flexible.

Another major change is the introduction of a new passport colour scheme. The traditional blue, white (official), and red (diplomatic) passports will now be joined by a revamped colour-coding system. Reports suggest that new design elements will be incorporated for better security and easier identification.

The Ministry of External Affairs stated that these changes are part of efforts to modernize India’s passport system and make it more accessible. The new rules are expected to simplify the application process while ensuring enhanced security and verification measures.
