New Delhi: The Indian government has strongly refuted a report by The New York Times alleging that India was involved in re-routing sensitive equipment to Russia. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) dismissed the claims as “baseless” and reaffirmed India’s commitment to international trade regulations and national security protocols.

The report suggested that Indian entities, including Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), played a role in supplying restricted technology to Russia amid ongoing Western sanctions. However, the government defended HAL, calling it a globally recognized defense and aerospace company that operates with complete transparency and in compliance with international norms.

MEA spokesperson stated, “India conducts its trade and defense partnerships with full adherence to global laws. The allegations in the report are speculative and misleading.”

India has maintained a strategic but balanced stance on global conflicts, including the Russia-Ukraine war, and has repeatedly emphasized its independent foreign policy.
