New Delhi – The opposition INDIA bloc has unanimously decided to oppose the Waqf Amendment Bill, senior Congress leader KC Venugopal announced during the ongoing Budget Session of Parliament.
Addressing the media, Venugopal stated that all parties within the alliance are firmly against the proposed amendments, which they believe could have significant implications for Waqf properties and minority rights. “The INDIA bloc stands united in opposing this bill. We will not allow any legislation that undermines the rights of any community,” he said.
The bill, introduced by the government, seeks to bring changes to the management and administration of Waqf properties across the country. However, opposition parties have raised concerns over its potential impact on minority institutions and have accused the ruling party of pushing a divisive agenda.
The debate over the bill is expected to intensify in Parliament, with the opposition gearing up for a strong resistance. Meanwhile, the government maintains that the amendments are aimed at streamlining Waqf administration and ensuring transparency.
As the session progresses, all eyes will be on the political battle unfolding over this contentious legislation.
