A 30-year-old man was shot and killed by police outside Terminal 1 of Toronto Pearson International Airport early Thursday morning. The incident unfolded around 7 a.m. when officers responded to reports of a man in distress inside a vehicle at the departures level.

According to initial information, when officers approached the vehicle, the man allegedly displayed a firearm, prompting police to open fire. Multiple shots were fired, and the man was critically injured. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

No officers or civilians were hurt during the confrontation. Authorities confirmed that the situation was quickly contained and that there was no ongoing threat to the public.

Due to the police operation and investigation, access to the Terminal 1 departures area was temporarily closed, and passengers were redirected through the arrivals section. While the airport remained operational, travelers were advised to expect delays and heightened security.

An independent investigation into the shooting is currently underway, and officials have urged any witnesses to come forward. The identity of the deceased has not been released pending notification of the family.
