In a rare show of unity, both the government and opposition parties came together during a special one-day session of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly to strongly condemn the recent attack on civilians in Pahalgam. Leaders across political lines criticized what they termed as the “selective targeting” of innocent people and declared that the widespread outrage signals the “start of the end of terrorism” in the region.

The Assembly witnessed powerful speeches filled with emotion and determination, as leaders highlighted the bravery of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and reaffirmed their commitment to fight terrorism in all its forms. Calls for stronger security measures and greater public cooperation echoed through the session, with several members urging for collective efforts to dismantle terror networks.

Chief Ministers and opposition leaders alike stressed that such attacks would only strengthen the resolve of the nation and its people. “The growing outrage and unity among the citizens show that the days of fear and violence are numbered,” one senior leader said during the debate.

The session concluded with the passage of a unanimous resolution condemning the Pahalgam attack and expressing solidarity with the victims and their families. The Assembly also pledged to support all initiatives aimed at restoring lasting peace and stability across Jammu and Kashmir.

Further measures and detailed plans to enhance security and prevent future attacks are expected to be announced in the coming days.
