New Delhi, May 27 – The government is reportedly preparing to initiate an impeachment motion against Justice Varma following the recovery of a large amount of cash from his official residence.

The development comes in the wake of a fire incident at the judge’s residence, during which emergency responders allegedly discovered bundles of unaccounted cash. The incident raised serious concerns and prompted an internal inquiry led by a panel of senior judicial figures.

Sources indicate that the findings of the inquiry pointed to potential misconduct, which has prompted the Chief Justice of India to recommend further action. With the judge refusing to step down voluntarily, the government is now expected to move an official impeachment motion during the upcoming session of Parliament.

This marks a rare and serious action against a sitting judge and is likely to spark intense debate within political and legal circles. If approved, the motion could set a precedent for accountability at the highest levels of the judiciary.
