Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially begun his five-nation diplomatic tour with a state visit to Ghana, where he was received by President John Dramani Mahama with full ceremonial honours in Accra.
The welcome included a 21-gun salute, a guard of honour, and cultural performances, reflecting the strong historical and bilateral ties between the two nations. Modi’s arrival marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Ghana in over three decades.
During his stay, PM Modi is scheduled to engage in high-level talks aimed at enhancing cooperation in areas such as trade, energy, education, and technology. He is also expected to address Ghana’s Parliament and meet members of the Indian diaspora.
The visit is seen as part of India’s broader push to deepen partnerships across Africa and strengthen its global presence. Modi will continue his tour with upcoming visits to several key nations, including Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia.
The journey underscores India’s evolving foreign policy focus and its commitment to building stronger ties with nations across regions and continents.
