Airline moves to ease disruption as flight operations remain affected by recent strike

August 16, 2025 — Air Canada has introduced a reimbursement and assistance program for travelers impacted by the ongoing labour action that disrupted hundreds of flights and stranded thousands of passengers worldwide.

The airline stated that customers whose travel plans were affected during the strike period will be eligible for refunds, travel credits, or rebooking options at no additional cost. Air Canada also confirmed that accommodation and meal assistance would be provided for passengers stranded mid-journey due to cancellations.

“We understand the inconvenience this situation has caused,” the company said in a statement, adding that dedicated support teams are working around the clock to process claims and facilitate alternative travel arrangements.

The announcement comes after days of travel chaos triggered by a strike involving flight attendants, which led to significant disruptions across major Canadian airports and several international routes. While negotiations with the union have resumed, full restoration of the flight schedule is expected to take time, and passengers are advised to check their flight status before heading to the airport.
