pNew Delhi — India has expressed hope that Saudi Arabia will consider mutual interests and sensitivities while advancing its recently signed pact with Pakistan, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement.
The response came after news of the Saudi-Pakistan agreement drew attention in New Delhi, with officials underscoring that India values its growing partnership with Riyadh. The MEA highlighted that Saudi Arabia has been a key strategic partner for India in energy, trade, investment, and regional security, and those ties are expected to remain strong.
“India and Saudi Arabia share deep-rooted relations that extend across people-to-people ties, economic linkages, and strategic cooperation. We are confident that our mutual interests will guide our future engagement,” the MEA said.
While refraining from direct criticism of the Saudi-Pakistan pact, India noted that issues concerning regional peace and security must be approached with care. Officials suggested that India expects Riyadh to take into account the broader implications of its agreements, especially those involving Pakistan.
The statement reflects India’s cautious approach of safeguarding its strategic partnership with Saudi Arabia while signaling unease over closer Saudi-Pak ties. Analysts believe that New Delhi’s response underlines the importance of balancing regional dynamics without disrupting key bilateral relationships.
