26-Year-Old Man Fatally Shot in Orléans in Targeted Attack

A tragic incident unfolded in Orléans on Tuesday evening as a 26-year-old man, identified as Husain Dahis, was shot and killed in what Ottawa police are describing as a targeted attack. The shooting occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Trigoria Crescent near Brian Coburn Boulevard E.

Emergency crews responded promptly, but Dahis succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The area, usually known for its safety, was shaken by the violent event.

“It felt like the sounds were very close. It felt like someone was drilling on the side of our wall,” said local resident Isabella Xiong, who was at home when she heard the gunshots. She recounted hearing multiple shots in quick succession, followed by a man’s scream. Xiong, along with other concerned neighbors, quickly gathered outside and some called 911.

The remnants of police tape tied to a fence served as a stark reminder of the night’s events. Despite the severity of the incident, police have not announced any arrests but have assured the public that they do not believe there is an ongoing risk.

Xiong expressed her condolences for the victim’s family, describing the situation as “very heartbreaking.”

This incident adds to a series of shootings that have unsettled communities across the city. Authorities continue to investigate and urge anyone with information to come forward.
