U.S.-India Partnership Growing Stronger Under President Biden’s Leadership, Says White House
Subtitle: Biden Proud of Deepening Strategic Relationship with India
The White House recently emphasized the strength of the U.S.-India relationship, describing it as “strong and getting stronger.” White House National Security Communications Advisor, John Kirby, highlighted President Joe Biden’s commitment to enhancing bilateral ties with India, expressing that this will be one of Biden’s proudest achievements when looking back on his term.
In a press briefing on September 24, Kirby underscored Biden’s efforts to expand the U.S.-India partnership, particularly in defense and Indo-Pacific security. “We are pursuing a defense relationship on various systems that will make not just the Indian people safer, but people safer throughout the Indo-Pacific,” Kirby said. He also acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vital contributions to the strategic discussions, given his understanding of the region.
Biden’s investment in the Quad—a strategic alliance between the U.S., India, Japan, and Australia—has been a significant part of his administration’s foreign policy. The group has focused on security, economic cooperation, technology, and clean energy initiatives.
Biden, who will not seek re-election in 2024, highlighted his pride in the inclusive nature of the U.S.-India relationship, moving beyond bilateral ties to address broader regional and global concerns. As Biden’s presidency winds down, the partnership between the two nations continues to flourish across multiple sector.
