India Rejects US Report on Religious Freedom, Calls It ‘Malicious and Biased’
MEA labels USCIRF’s report politically motivated and inaccurate.
India has strongly dismissed a report by the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), which criticized the state of religious freedom in the country, calling it “malicious” and “biased.” The report highlighted alleged systematic violations against religious minorities in India and recommended designating the country as a “Country of Particular Concern.”
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, condemned the report, stating that it “misrepresents facts” and follows a politically motivated agenda. India reiterated that USCIRF’s assessment is not credible and urged the organization to focus on domestic human rights issues in the US instead.
This is not the first time India has rejected such allegations, as it continues to deny visas to USCIRF members, citing interference in its internal matters.
