India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, has strongly criticized the United Nations and Western nations for their stance on Kashmir, accusing them of equating the attacker and the victim in the conflict. Speaking at an event, Jaishankar highlighted what he called the “double standards” of global institutions and listed parties he deemed “culpable” in perpetuating instability in the region.

Jaishankar condemned the failure of international bodies to recognize Pakistan’s role in fostering cross-border terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. “For too long, the world has ignored the fact that the real victim here is India, while the aggressor is being given a free pass,” he said. He further pointed out that certain nations and organizations continue to portray the issue as a bilateral dispute rather than acknowledging terrorism as the core problem.

The minister also took aim at Western countries for their selective human rights advocacy, arguing that they have turned a blind eye to terror networks operating with impunity. “When it suits their interests, terrorism is a global threat. But when it happens in India, it is often downplayed or justified in the name of political discourse,” he added.

Jaishankar reiterated India’s firm stance on Kashmir, asserting that it is an internal matter and that the international community should focus on holding accountable those responsible for inciting violence. His remarks come amid renewed tensions and global debates over the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
