Bureaucrats competency is mostly unquestionable due to the rigorous selection process which the politicians don’t have to go through. None the less there are very highly competent and educated politicians lately in the Indian cabinet, which is evident from the leaping progress. Modi wave is indeed a golden era for the nation’s welfare. During Congress rule, there was much that the public was unaware of, or it can be said that there wasn’t as much transparency and accountability as today.
Last, but not the least rather than trying to pin a govt envoy, let’s hope a very productive and efficient opposition also emerges in elections for benefit of India.
Akhilesh Mishra a Senior IFS officer envoy to Ireland Dublin was recently in eye of a storm while defending India which is part of his duty to do so. While defending his country there were instances of references to Prime Minister being the head of state and the aura he has as a leader. Mr. Jai Ram Ramesh who has been a critic of prime minister Modi personally and being an opposition member took on the bureaucrat for comments as envoys / ambassadors moral and ethically are supposed to defend their country and head of state. While Politicians including Rajiv Gandhi have bad mouthed Indian govt, politicians and the country as a whole in foreign land which was reported on many instances.
Mr. Jai Ram Ramesh is trying his best to woo the Gandhi family but looks a little too late. There are some reports Jai Ramesh Ramesh knew the officer was from Ayodhya therefore targeted him. I know Mr. Mishra personally while he was counsel general of india to canada and can vouch him as a very bold, professional and an officer with high caliber. He accompanied me to gurudwaras of canada where normally envoys wouldn’t and started open houses to reach the public rather than Vice versa. It was during his tenure, PM Modi made his first visit to Canada. PM Modi’s popularity was such that the Liberal MP Frank Valeriote who was instrumental in bringing a motion in parliament to remove Mr. Modi’s visa restrictions wasn’t able to get VIP pass to meet Modi until we got one through Mr. Mishra. Incidentally, the communication between BJP and Canada was facilitated by me for removing restrictions.
