Putin Signs Mutual Defence Pact with North Korea
Russian President Vladimir Putin has formally enacted a mutual defence treaty with North Korea, deepening the strategic partnership between the two nations. The treaty, ratified by the Russian parliament and published on an official Russian legislative website, mandates that both Russia and North Korea will come to each other’s defence in the event of an armed attack.
This significant agreement was initially announced in June 2024 during a summit in Pyongyang between Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. The pact highlights the growing military and diplomatic ties between Moscow and Pyongyang amid increasing global geopolitical tensions.
