Elon Musk’s PAC Spent $200 Million to Support Donald Trump’s Victory in US Presidential Election
Elon Musk, the world’s richest man and CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, played a pivotal role in Republican Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 US presidential election. According to a report by the Associated Press (AP), Musk’s super PAC (Political Action Committee) contributed around $200 million to America PAC, which backed Trump’s campaign, focusing on low-propensity and first-time voters.
This move highlights the growing influence of billionaires on electoral outcomes. A ruling by the Federal Election Commission (FEC) in March allowed super PACs to coordinate canvassing efforts with campaigns, clearing the path for Musk’s significant financial involvement. The funds were used to target key demographics in battleground states like Arizona, Georgia, and Pennsylvania, which were crucial for Trump’s win.
During his election night victory speech in Florida, President-elect Trump praised Musk, stating, “We have a new star. A star is born — Elon!” Musk is expected to be appointed to lead a government efficiency commission during Trump’s second term.
This unprecedented collaboration between a tech giant and a political campaign marks a new era in election influence, raising questions about the role of private wealth in shaping public leadership.
