India Urges Restraint Amid Escalating Middle East Tensions
India expressed deep concern over the escalation of tensions in the Middle East after Iran fired over 180 ballistic missiles at Israel. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) called for restraint and emphasized the need for “dialogue and diplomacy” to resolve the conflict and avoid it spreading further across the region. The MEA stressed the protection of civilians and the importance of addressing issues without allowing the conflict to widen.
This call for peace follows the attack by Iran, which used hypersonic Fattah missiles, reportedly hitting 90% of their targets in Israel. Despite the attacks, Israel’s defense systems, including the US-led coalition’s efforts, intercepted most of the missiles.
The conflict in the Middle East has been simmering for nearly a year, following Hamas’s attack on Israel in Gaza, which killed over 41,000 people. As tensions rise, India reiterates its commitment to supporting peace efforts through diplomatic channels.
