In a surprising announcement today, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar tendered his resignation, citing ongoing health concerns as the reason for stepping down from India’s second-highest constitutional post.
Dhankhar’s resignation letter, submitted to President Droupadi Murmu, described his health status as “compromised” and stated that he could no longer fulfill the active duties of the Vice President, which include presiding over the Rajya Sabha and representing India both domestically and internationally.
