Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received an invitation from U.S. President Donald Trump to join a proposed Gaza Peace Board, according to sources familiar with the development, signaling a possible diplomatic role for India in efforts to address the ongoing conflict in the region.

Sources said the invitation reflects Washington’s interest in involving India as a key international stakeholder, citing New Delhi’s growing global influence and its balanced relations across West Asia. While no official confirmation has been issued by either government, discussions are understood to be at a preliminary stage.

The proposed peace board is expected to focus on post-conflict stabilization, humanitarian access, and long-term political arrangements in Gaza. Trump has been pushing for a new framework to address the crisis, arguing that broader international participation is necessary to move beyond repeated cycles of violence.

India has consistently called for restraint, protection of civilians, and dialogue, while also maintaining strong ties with Israel and longstanding support for the Palestinian cause. Analysts say this positioning could make India a credible voice in any multilateral peace effort.

Officials in New Delhi are said to be evaluating the scope, mandate, and implications of such a role, including how it aligns with India’s foreign policy priorities and regional relationships. Participation would mark a significant expansion of India’s diplomatic engagement in the Israel–Palestine conflict.

If accepted, Modi’s involvement could elevate India’s profile in global peace initiatives and underscore its aspiration to play a more active role in conflict resolution beyond its immediate neighbourhood.

For now, sources stress that discussions remain exploratory, with clarity expected only after formal proposals are shared and internal consultations are completed.
