Sheikh Hasina, who recently resigned as Bangladesh’s Prime Minister and fled the country amidst violent protests, will return once democracy is reinstated, her son, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, stated. In a phone interview, Joy emphasized that Hasina’s return is inevitable, though it remains unclear if she will resume her political career or retire.

Joy accused Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI, of orchestrating the ongoing unrest in Bangladesh, pointing to coordinated attacks on Awami League members as evidence of foreign interference. He also expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian government for sheltering his mother during this tumultuous period.

As Bangladesh prepares for an interim government led by Nobel laureate Mohammad Yunus, Joy urged the restoration of law and order to prevent the country from descending into anarchy. He emphasized the importance of India’s role in pressuring the international community to restore democracy in Bangladesh.

Despite rumors of seeking asylum, Joy confirmed that Hasina remains committed to returning to Bangladesh, advocating for her people and the Awami League, the country’s oldest political party.

The death toll from the anti-government protests has reached 469, with violence continuing to spread across the country, underscoring the fragile state of Bangladesh’s political landscape.
