Bengaluru, India – In a major crackdown on gold smuggling, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized jewellery and cash worth ₹4.73 crore from the residence of actress Ranya Rao. The raid comes in connection with the recent seizure of 14.2 kg of smuggled gold at an airport.
According to officials, the investigation led them to the actress’s house, where they discovered large quantities of unaccounted jewellery and cash. Sources suggest that Ranya Rao is under scrutiny for her alleged links to the smuggling network.
The gold, originally seized at the airport, was part of an international smuggling operation, and authorities believe more individuals may be involved. The DRI is now expanding its probe, with further interrogations and possible legal action expected.
Ranya Rao, known for her roles in Kannada and Tamil films, has not yet commented on the allegations. Officials have stated that the recovered assets are being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
