Chinese President’s visit underscores Beijing’s focus on stability and development in the region
August 16, 2025 — Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Lhasa to participate in the 60th anniversary celebrations of the founding of the Tibet Autonomous Region, highlighting the central government’s emphasis on unity, development, and national security in the strategically significant region.
During his visit, Xi attended a series of official events marking the milestone and reiterated the importance of “ethnic harmony, social stability, and economic progress” in Tibet.
